Long before watercolor illustrations became a signature of boutique hotels, lifestyle brands, and destination merchandise, Rebecca Meixner was painting the places and moments people love most. 

At the heart of Rebecca's work is a gift for capturing joy, whether it's the feeling of a favorite vacation, a milestone celebration, or the beauty tucked inside an ordinary day. Her art turns fleeting moments into keepsakes, creating pieces that feel nostalgic, happy, and effortlessly carefree. 

A lifelong artist with a degree in marketing, Rebecca always dreamed of building a business around her creativity. As a child, there was nothing she loved more than staying home with a box of crayons and coloring for hours. While her career initially followed a more traditional path, art remained a constant thread throughout her life. 

Everything changed in 2019 when her husband, Dave, suffered a devastating spinal cord injury after a fall that left him temporarily paralyzed and unable to work. During one of the most uncertain seasons of their lives, Rebecca returned to painting, initially as therapy, then as a business, and eventually as a brand that would far exceed anything she imagined. 

Dave had long hoped to return to Charleston after serving there in the Air Force. Rebecca needed convincing, but after his life-changing accident, the city's extraordinary support transformed Charleston from simply where they lived into the place they call home. Today, Rebecca's work has become synonymous with the city, celebrating the streets, traditions, and moments that first embraced her family when they needed it most. 

Today, Rebecca Illustrated has grown from a watercolor studio into one of the country's most exciting emerging coastal lifestyle brands. What began with hand-painted destination prints has expanded into home décor, stationery, apparel, gifts, holiday collections, and the now-iconic Mahjong collection, with more than $1 million in Mahjong mat sales and multiple collections selling out four times over.

Rebecca's work is carried by Anthropologie, hundreds of independent retailers nationwide, her flagship boutique on Charleston's iconic King Street, The Mills House Hotel, and now Cabana by The Seaside Style in Seaside, Florida. With her first expansion beyond Charleston underway, Rebecca is thoughtfully growing the brand into destination retailers, hotels, and coastal communities across the country. Her work and entrepreneurial journey have been featured on Good Morning America, Meet the Makers Charleston, regional and national television, and in numerous publications celebrating her artistry and entrepreneurial success. 

Known for spotting trends before they become mainstream, Rebecca was creating hand-painted destination illustrations and lifestyle collections long before watercolor branding became ubiquitous across hospitality and retail. Today, she continues to blend timeless artistry with fresh ideas, creating products that celebrate travel, nostalgia, and the places that become part of our stories. 

Despite its rapid growth, Rebecca Illustrated remains a family-run business. Rebecca, her husband Dave and daughter Lilli work side by side with a small, close-knit team that operates like family, bringing warmth, creativity, and genuine hospitality to everything they create.
