Dock St - Art Print
The original structure, which was built in 1736, occupied the site of the first building in the Thirteen Colonies designed for use as a theater.
It was ruined in the great fire , rebuilt, plus converted to Planters Hotel. A number of notable persons patronized the Planter's Hotel including the noted 19th Century actor Junius Brutus Booth (father of Edwin and John Wilkes Booth).
Most importantly: Charleston's famed Planter's Punch was first introduced here.
